Chicken Momos Recipe a Delicious Homemade Delight



Chicken momos are a popular street food in South Asia, especially in Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and parts of India. These delicious dumpling are filled with spiced minced chicken and wrapped in a thin dough, then steamed or fried to perfection.

If you're craving momos, here's an easy homemade chicken momos recipe to try.

Ingredients:

For the Dough,

. 2 cups all purpose

. 1/2 tbsp salt

. Water

For the Filling:

. 250g minced chicken

. 1 small onion, finely chopped

. 2 tbsp spring onion, finely chopped

. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

. 1 tbsp soy sauce

. 1/2 tbsp black pepper powder

. 1/2 tbsp salt (adjust to taste)

. 1 tbsp oil

. 1/2 tbsp chili flakes (optional)

Step by Step Preparation:

Step 1 : Prepare the Dough

. In a mixing bowl, add flour and salt

. Gradually add water while kneading to from a soft, non sticky dough

. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes

Step 2 : Prepare the Chicken Filling

. In a bowl, mix minced chicken, onion, spring onion, ginger garlic paste, soy sauce, black pepper, salt and oil

. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined

Step 3 : Roll Out the Dough

. Divide the dough into small balls

. Roll out each ball into a thin, circular wrapper (about 3 inches in diameter)

Step 4 : Assemble the Momos

. Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each wrapper

. Fold the edges and pleat to seal the dumpling. You can shape them as half moons or round momos

Step 5 : Steam the Momos

. Grease a steamer with oil or line it with cabbage leaves

. Place the momos in the steamer without touching each other

. Steam for 12-15 minutes until the dough turns glossy and the chicken is cooked

Step 6 : Serve and Enjoy

. Serve hot with spicy tomato chutney or schezwan sauce

Tips for Perfect Chicken Momos

. Use finely minced chicken for a smooth texture

. Keep the dough thin for a soft and chewy momo wrapper

. Don't overfill to avoid leakage while steaming
