Spicy Samosa Recipe : A Delightful Snack with Fiery Twist



Samosa are a beloved snack across South Asia and beyond. While the classic samosa is filled with mildly spiced potatos and peas, a spicy version add an exiting kick, perfect for those who love bold flavors. Here's how to make spicy samosa at home, from scratch.

Ingredients:

For the Dough

. 2 cup all purpose flour

. 1/4 cup oil or ghee

. 1/2 tbsp salt

. 1/2 cup water

For the Filling:

. 4 medium sized potatos

. 1/2 cup green peas

. 1 tbsp red chili (finely chopped)

. 1 tbsp garam masala

. 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder

. 1 tbsp cumin seeds

. 1/2 cumin fennel seeds

. 1/2 tbsp amchur powder

. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

. 2 tbsp oil

. Salt to taste

. Fresh coriander leaves (chopped)

For Frying:

. Oil (for deep frying)

Instructions:

Step 1 : Prepare the Dough

1. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt

2. Add oil or ghee and rub it into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs

3. Gradually add water, kneading until a firm dough form. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes

Step 2 : Make the Filling

1. Heat oil in pan. Add cumin and fennel seeds, letting them splutter

2. Stir in ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute

3. Add green chili, turmeric powder, red chili powder and garam masala, Mix well

4. Toss in mashed potatos and peas, Stir to combine

5. Add amchur powder, salt and coriander leaves. Mix thoroughly and cook for 2-3 minutes, Let the filling cool

Step 3 : Assemble the Samosa

1. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each into a ball

2. Roll out each ball into a thin oval, Cut it in half to form two semi circles

3. Take one semi circle and form a come by folding it, Seal the edges with water

4. Fill the cone with the spicy potato mixture, leaving some space at the top. Seal the opening tightly

Step 4 : Fry the Samosa

1. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat

2. Fry the samosa in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy

3. Remove and drain on paper towels

Serving Suggestions:

Serve the spicy samosa hot with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or a side of spicy ketchup. Pair them with a steaming cup of chai for the ultimate snack experience.
