How to Make Bhindi Sabzi Simple and Delicious Recipe



Bhindi, also known as okra or ladyfinger, is a popular vegetable in Indian households. It's nutritious, versatile and can be cooked in various ways. Here's a step by step guide to making a simple and delicious Bhindi Sabzi that pairs perfectly with roti or rice.

Ingredients:

. 250g Bhindi (Okra), washed and dried

. 2 tbsp oil

. 1 tbsp cumin seeds

. 1 medium onion, finely chopped

. 1 medium tomato, finely chopped

. 2 green chilies, salt (optional)

. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

. 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder

. 1 tbsp red chili powder

. 1 tbsp coriander powder

. 1/2 tbsp garam masala

. Salt to taste

. Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

Step 1 : Prep the Bhindi

1. Wash the Bhindi thoroughly and pat them dry with a clean cloth. Ensure they are completely dry to prevent stickiness while cooking

2. Chop off the ends and slice the Bhindi into 1-2 inch pieces

Step 2 : Cook the Bhindi

1. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a non stick pan or kadai

2. Add the chopped Bhindi and saute on medium heat for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This helps reduce the stickiness, Remove and set aside

Step 3 : Prepare the Masala

1. In the same pan, heat another tbsp of oil

2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter

3. Add the chopped onion and saute until golden brown

4. Stir in the ginger garlic paste and green chilies. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell didappears

5. Add the chopped tomato and cook until soft and mushy

Step 4 : Combine Bhindi with Masala

1. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt to the tomato onion mixture, Mix well

2. Toss the sauteed Bhindi into the masala and mix gently to coat

3. Cover and cook on low heat for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking

Step 5 : Finish with Garnish

1. Sprinkle garam masala and mix well

2. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot

Serving Suggestions:

. With Roti/Paratha: Serve the Bhindi Sabzi as a side dish with warm rotis, parathas or naan

. With Rice: Pair it with steamed basmati rice and dal for a wholesome meal

. As a Wrap: Use it as a stuffing for wraps or sandwiches for a quick lunch option
